And it's funny that promises I've made
I only know now how to keep
And words that I've spoken all loaded and token
Have finally found what to mean
Cos when we first started this we were just kids
You were surface I was deep
Convinced that I hurt you and bound by some virtue
I let all your beauty grow cheap
And I hated the words as they fell out your mouth
Looked around I assumed they belonged to someone else
But the room was empty apart from us
And the words you spoke were mine and I knew that was love
And it's funny that out from intention
It's opposite starts to creep
Already entitled with no need for idols
I got scared you wouldn't need me
So I let you go in a selfish season sow
And it hurts how I can't hate your reap
Time drags as it heals I just pray it reveals
You next to me when I sleep
And I hated the words as they fell out your mouth
Looked around to accuse them as those someone else
But the room was empty apart from us
And the words you spoke were mine and I feared that was love
The wires got crossed within the walls of my head
I hated myself but I hurt you instead
And now the room is empty and it's just my voice
I think it suited you better but that's not my choice
Anymore
Please please please don't be too late
Don't have misshaped our mould
I hoped you would be Havisham
Never look at another man again
So climb back on top of me
And fall to sleep, don't break our hold
I'll still be here when you wake up
This is real, all my love

Once again I am sitting there
with a vacant stare
thinking of how I might relieve
all my responsibilities
But my soul he dances somewhere
and I hope that he's happy
my soul he dances somewhere
I hope he's happier than me at least
And like an unborn child
kicking to it's own needs
when they finally drag him out
he'll be uncomfortable and screaming
and for the rest of time
he just won't feel right
he will feel altered and corrected
to a tune that they've affected
but he just won't dance to that
cos he knows it's imperfect
no he just won't dance to that
cos he's stubborn and i'm glad
That he just won't dance to your servile song
he'll pay the lonely consequence of not conceding to be wrong
and he just won't dance to your sallow song
because he'd rather give up now than feel like he's been strung along
And he just won't dance to your shitty song
because he finds it suffocating and utterly frustrating
when his moves don't fit and he's out of step
and he can't help but to question if the masses are correct
But my soul he dances somewhere
and I hope that he's happy
yeah my soul he dances somewhere
I hope he's happier than me at least
He would rather die
than dance with you for being so shy
of all your strange customs
he laughs at how you trust them

Fierce Father

I await the day
I fall down to my knees
And I sing to the ceiling for the first time I'm asking
Lord won't you help me please
And I await response
I don't expect to receive
But a voice says son I'm only coming down once
To tell you that I don't believe
Fierce Father why bother
When the whole world is out for you?
Fierce Father how can you
When the whole world is out somewhere?
And then my dad descends the stairs
A chorus sings off all his cares
He's made all his money and he's sold all of his shares
But says we still can't afford to be scared
I escape most days
By getting up at ease
And I hope to a heaven I don't even believe in
Turn this day fast back to sleep
I waste on wallow days
My parents wine and cheese
Run em down to the rind assume they won't mind
When I forward them my fees
Fierce Father why bother
When the whole world is out for you?
Fierce Father how can you
When the whole world is out for dinner?
And then my dad descends the stairs
A chorus sings off all his cares
He's made all his money and he's sold all of his shares
But says we still can't afford to be scared
So critique what you like boy
But it was me who gave you life boy
So spend all our money and use all of your air
But don't stop just cos you've you seen it isn't fair
Please fund my tongue to run over what went wrong
(Fierce Father why bother?
Fierce Father how can you be bothered?)
